Nature

You'll find our Nature Trail winding through the secret valley that lies beyond the Nant-y-Coy waterwheel, where there is the timeless tranquillity we all long for. Stop and listen to the music of nature, as you first enjoy the melody of the brook and cascade, walk on and up through specially conserved woodland, into the wild meadows and note how the sounds change.

There are resting places for you to enjoy along the way and nature notes that encourage you to look and listen. Poke around in our Bug Hotel and spot the bank where the badgers live. See the bat boxes high in the trees and imagine their acrobatics in the twilight. The walk leaves the meadows and gains the footpath to the Great Treffgarne Rock. Here you will find an ancient stone age fort, before retracing your steps to the lane leading back to the Mill.

Come in all seasons and note the changes. The 35 acres surrounding the mill affords a chance to experience unspoilt nature. With walks from a brief five minute stroll through the Sculpture valley, up to one hour which will get you up to the top of Treffgarne Rock and marvellous views across the countryside.

We ask for a small donation, payable at the Craft Shop, towards the upkeep and development of this area of Special Scientific Interest. You'll find none of the routes really arduous and the routes are marked along the way. However, parts of the longer walk can be a bit tricky for those with limited mobility. Ask Nant-y-Coy reception for some advice before you begin.
