Our Vision

Whilst offering a diverse range of activities and facilities, we are also particularly dedictated to the promotion of the Arts in many forms. Painting, drawing, sculpture, pottery and many other art forms are encouraged and supported at the Mill.

In addition to enjoying the Gallery where our exhibitions change regularly, there are also many opportunities in the Studio where our visitors young and old are welcome to try something for themselves through our hands-on workshops and events. Keep an eye on the News pages for the latest happenings and have a go!

The Refurbishment of the Mill

Margaret Merritt, Nant-y-Coy's owner, is determined to ensure that the redevelopment of the Mill results in a comfortable, efficient, and environmentally friendly building. We have already achieved Wales ‘Green Dragon’ environmental standard.

When it came to selecting a heating system, the limited internal space and access for fuel delivery presented a number of significant challenges. After examining the options, a compact wood pellet system, based on a high efficiency Okofen boiler was specified. It provides all the necessary space heating and hot water to keep visitors comfortable right through the year through a combination of radiators and under floor heating.

Although conversions of an old and listed building can be a challenge, on the positive side, Nant-y-Coy’s thick, stone walls prove a very effective heat store which helps smooth out the peaks in demand on the boiler.

We are very pleased that the four ton waterwheel turns again, driven by the water running down the leet from Nant-y-Coy brook.
