CONTEMPORARY DESIGN CRAFT SHOW

An opportunity to see the considerable creative
talent of five final year students from Pembrokeshire College
is more than evident in this most innovative of exhibitions.
Having just completed their HND in contemporary craft design,
this students bring their final year exhibition to Nant y Coy
Arts, including the re-creation of a 50’s style room –
with music!
Highly original lighting systems inspired by tree forms, translated
into minimalist product design will show alongside landscape based
appliqué textiles with a fine understanding of colour harmonies.
Experimentation with materials and process forms an integral part
of their course as shown in exciting ceramics, glass and innovative
felt work, some of which pushes the boundaries of the aesthetic
form and function.
The brain child of course leader Julia Rees in conjunction with
owner of Nant y Coy Arts Margaret Merritt, who hopes it will be
the first of many links between college and gallery.
All works are for sale, emphasis also being placed on a professional
outlook and practice as part of their career development.
The exhibition is opened on Saturday 16th June by internationally
renowned artist David Tress, who is based in Haverfordwest.
