'The Shore and the Moor'
Fine Art Textiles

‘ Shore & Moor is a design
inspiration for that all-important living space-the home.
Our emotions are highly influenced by colour, tone and texture
and the introduction of a new piece to a room will change its
visual dynamics.
This is influenced by the contrasts between the rugged landscapes
of the Pembrokeshire coastline and the rolling scenery of west
Somerset.
The louring slate grey cliffs and rock pools on windswept beaches
contrast with the varying mauve and purple tones of the ling and
bell heather which lie in profusion over Exmoor.
Pebbles on a beach worn by the elements and sand between toes;
purple heather against yellow gorse and white sails far out to
sea echoing sheep on a distant hillside, these evoke memories
of childhood. And memories of bracing walks past gaily coloured
beach huts and stripy
deckchairs on the promenade vie with strolls past lichen and moss
embroidered oaks in lush green wooded glades.
Wide ranges of textile techniques have been incorporated within
the works. These include a combination of traditional fine art
printing in oil, the use of batik and fabric dyes, frottage, silkscreen
printing, embroidery, collage and painting. These techniques have
been carefully selected and have often bee layered within a single
piece.
Colour is the key ingredient to the work. The “Shore &
Moor” collection offers the opportunity to mix and match
pieces to rekindle those memories of days on the hills or by the
sea. It allows you to create and interior with a few key ingredients
and to have individually designed pieces enhancing your own living
space.’
