Diana
Thompson
Diana Thompson started painting comparatively recently and continues
to teach Music and Creative Arts, although she is now semi retired.
Besides creative and improvisational music Diana is deeply involved
with the Healing Arts and spiritual development. In various ways
each of these interests influences her work.
Working intuitively and improvising with several layers of ink
or paint, many shapes, colours and light effects emerge, inspiring
a picture which Diana then develops in charcoal and soft pastels.
It is to convey an atmosphere of mystery or wonder through the
people she paints that interests Diana most.
Her papier mache sculptures are mainly white, enhancing the shadows
formed. Some pieces have separate figures, allowing the viewer
to take a part in the arrangement of the composition.
The Ladies Who Lunch series has been developed this year and is
the result of a happy collaboration with friend and artist, Mary
Harrison.
This is Diana's first exhibition. |
