'An artist’s work reflects who they are. ‘Artisan to Artist’ is a body of work emphasising the diverse approach to my creative practice.
Using materials I understand provides a valuable resource I can identify with and subsequently utilise to develop my own thoughts. Through the intense process of making, a relationship is formed with the work that transfers to the viewer.
A concerted effort is made to minimise stimuli. By focusing on this sensitive approach to my work, it promotes the realization of an intimate conclusion. It is the intention to engage the spectator in his or her own personal thoughts. Achieving this subtle approach often triggers a complex emotional response.
With further exploration into the use of iron and other materials, I intend expanding beyond the confines of my understanding. Allowing myself to be continually influenced by experience.'

Mike Davies is holding a blacksmithing demonstration Sat 7th April between 10.30am & 4.30pm (weather permitting) in the Mill's Forecourt.
Mike is also present in the Gallery Sat 21st April between 10:30am & 6pm. The perfect occasion to meet the Artist!
